Our Guesthouses in the Mountains near Charlottesville, VA is very informal and offers more privacy than most B&B's. A Guesthouse in the Clouds is a small bed & breakfast or guesthouse accommodation near Charlottesville, Virginia close to Jefferson's Monticello, Madison's Montpelier and the University of Virginia. A Guesthouse in the Clouds is a peaceful and quiet retreat in the forest of the Southwest Mountains of piedmont Virginia. You frequently see whitetail deer and wild turkeys at dawn and dusk right from where you sit in front of the fire.

The houses you stay in are two different and separate guest houses on our property, about 50 meters from our residence. They are about ten meters from each other, joined by a trellis. There is a large sitting room with a fireplace, and a kitchen in each of the two separate houses you would have to yourself if you reserved one. Each is filled with books and antiques. A patio and the swimming pool and hot tub are just outside. You get the feeling you are miles from civilization, yet you are only fifteen to twenty minutes from Charlottesville, UVa, Monticello, and the local airport (CHO). We are 15 minutes from Charlottesville, twenty minutes from UVA, twenty minutes from Monticello, fifteen minutes from the Charlottesville airport, and twenty minutres from Montpelier. We are 6 miles NE of Charlottesville as the crow flies.

We have been operating since 1995. Mary Ann was in the restaurant business in Charlottesville for twenty-five years. We operated this establishment as Sunset Mountain Bed & Breakfast for ten years until we changed the concept from a bed & breakfast (offering an elaborate menu of ten breakfasts) to being simply a guesthouse as it is operated now. Each of the houses has a complete kitchen, so you may prepare not only your breakfast, but any other meals you choose to.

FAQ's: Children are welcome. No pets, please. The pool is open all year long. There is central heating and A/C. There is no cable TV on the mountain, only VCR and local reception. There is internet assess with a good air card. No pets allowed. The mountain top Location is off US Route 20, 6 miles north-east of Charlottesville, fifteen minutes from Free Bridge/Route 250 East crossing into Charlottesville. Both houses have ample sheets and towels and beds are made when you arrive. Both houses have complete kitchens. There are coffee makers (US & European) and coffee in each kitchen.
