Like most dog owners, our vacations were always stressful. Kenneling our dogs was never an option. We imposed upon reluctant family members to dog sit or we cut our trips short. The few times when we were able to take our dogs on vacation we were even more frustrated. While many places call themselves "pet friendly," most are not designed to meet the specific needs and desires of dog owners.
So in autumn 2001, after speaking with so many dog owners who experienced the same problems, we escaped our corporate jobs, moved to Vermont, and created the first "dog-centric" inn of its kind...The Paw House...a classy vacation destination that CATERS exclusively to dog owners. From the start, being "pet friendly" was not enough. When we started we even charged $10 extra if you visited without a dog!
Since opening in 2001, we have welcomed thousands of human and dog guests from throughout North America. We are so proud of the relationships that we have built with our guests, dog rescue groups, dog related charities, and the media. We sincerely hope for the opportunity to serve you and your dogs sometime soon. During the coming months we will be opening new Paw House locations throughout North America. Our house and each of our rooms are immaculate and tastefully decorated toæpamper the HUMANSæthat travel with theirædogs. Every private guestroom is equipped for double occupancy and is furnished with its own special touches including a private bathroom, comfortable beds for humans, TV/VCR, wi-fi internet, air conditioning, and a separate cozy bed for your dog.
