A classic Vermont bed and breakfast Inn, The Black Lantern Inn is the perfect place to spend your Vermont vacation, whether you come to ski, hike, bike, climb, or do absolutely nothing at all. Featured on the National Register of Historic Places as the "Montgomery House," the Black Lantern Inn first opened its doors in 1803 to dust worn travelers on the stagecoach route between Boston and Montreal. Today, the Black Lantern continues to welcome Vermont bed and breakfast travelers all year round. Click here to learn more about our package rates and dates. Restored for your comfort, the Black Lantern has eight individually decorated guest rooms and seven suites - all with private baths. Aside from your private room, you can relax in our common sitting room - complete with a wood stove to warm the cold of a winter ski day, or wind down in our outdoor Jacuzzi overlooking the picturesque landscape of the Green Mountains.
Dining at The Black Lantern Inn is a delectable experience...we are known in the area for our superb cuisine. Start with cocktails in our cozy bar before you settle into a fabulous dinner in our newly renovated dining room. Located in the charming village of Montgomery, this historic Vermont B&B is minutes away from alpine skiing at Jay Peak Resort and cross country skiing at Hazen's Notch. Canadian ski areas are only a half hour drive away and the VAST (Vermont Association of Snowmobile Travelers) trails are also nearby. In 2005, Jay Peak will open its new 18-hole golf course, adding to the charm of this year-round resort community.
