Nye's Green Valley Farm B&B can be your home away from home. It's a classic and wonderfully cozy Vermont Bed and Breakfast. Green Valley Farm has welcomed guests for nearly two centuries as it was built and first used as a stagecoach tavern in the early 1800's. Then my aunt operated it as a guest home in the 1960s and 1970s.
My great-grandfather purchased the property in 1867, farmed and raised his family here. My grandfather and his siblings were raised in this house, as were my father and his siblings. While it was not my residence, it has always been my 'home'. My most wonderful childhood memories were made here on this farm. It was a working farm, guest house and home to the Nye family until it sold in 1975 when I was in college. It was sold several times between 1975 and 1998 when we were able to buy it back...HAPPY DAY!
The property was in a very, very sad state of affairs when we gave it the Nye family name back in 1998. After thousands of hours of work, a real labor of love, we welcomed our first guests in the fall of 2000. A day to celebrate!
Now, with seven years behind us as innkeepers, we wonder where the time has gone. We've met the most wonderful people and truly love our work as innkeepers/retired teachers.
Breakfast is when you want it. The menu includes pancakes, waffles, or French toast served with locally made maple syrup, eggs, home fries, stuffed mushrooms, breakfast casseroles, hot and cold cereal, homemade breads, muffins, and fresh fruit. Coffee, tea and juice are available at all times. I love to cook and feed my guests.
The grounds of our home are filled with flowers. Our sheep, goats, mini horses and llamas are in the pasture to pat. There are sitting areas outside and campfires are built on summer weekends to enjoy.
Whatever the season, there are numerous things to do in the area. Each season brings with it its own uniqueness with special things to do. The inn has a libary of books to help you plan your days, and we are always willing to help you, too.
Dave and I are both long-time Vermonters and take great pride in being able to work the family farm in a different way than my great-grandfather. We feel blessed to be able to do what we do and look forard to welcoming you to our home.
