Shore Oaks Seaside Inn is a ten bedroom inn just 50 feet from the shore. Built in 1907, it exudes the authentic simple elegance of the Arts and Crafts period. Its little gazebo has been beckoning guests to “get married here” for nearly a century. It is one of the most romantic spots along the coast of Maine! Quiet tidal pools grace the shore and seals and loons vocalize in the water nearby. The flowerbeds are lush with perennials and the fields are peppered with a barrage of wildflowers. Blueberries can be gathered as they ripen. In fall, the local blueberry barrens turn vibrant red! The bald eagles flock to our shores in winter, the days get shorter, and the fireplaces cozier. Spring creeps in with a burst of delicate blooms everywhere, and seals return for their summer playtime in Eggemoggin Reach.

The fifteen cottages vary in style; some are true log cabins with open rafters, others have pine paneled interiors and clapboard siding. Most have real wood-burning fireplaces. They are furnished with comfortable “cottage” antiques and most have kitchens or kitchenettes. They are ideal for families with children.
Purposely, there are no televisions or telephones in the rooms. There is a single public telephone as well as a dedicated phone line in the third floor office for Shore Oaks’ guests with laptops. There are phone jacks, electrical outlets, desk, comfortable seating, and lighting. Service is dial up at this time. High speed WiFi is available nearby at the Blue Hill Library. The Oakland House Hotel office has a fax machine and will send and receive guest faxes.
