This sturdy Dutch farmhouse, built in 1906, sits where it once was profusely surrounded by brilliantly blooming gladiola and mum plants. Flower farms were almost indigenous to the area and traces of the old foundation for the bulb and seed storage building are still in evidence today. Purchased in 1973 by its present owner, the house had withstood the presence of many large families and although very strong, was in disrepair. Thus began a long rejuvenation project.
In May of 1997 (after the owner retired from 35 years of teaching), it opened as a Bed and Breakfast. And once again, the house was filled with many wonderful people. Breathe in cool lake breezes from the quaint front porch while relaxing on antique wicker furniture or head for the rustic patio and gazeebo in the back where sun or shade is your choice. Birds and rabbits welcome your presence on nearly an acre of fresh greenery.
