The Plains Hotel Description:
The Historic Plains Hotel, built in 1919, has been renovated with a flair for the old west. It boasts transom windows, long halls, a wide staircase with hand tooled banister, and ample woodwork throughout the building. Original lighting and bathroom fixtures, including claw foot tubs, have been preserved to maintain turn-of-the-century ambiance. Antique lovers will appreciate many vintage pieces and the unique decorating techniques. There are seven guest rooms, all on the upper level, with private baths, cable TV, and telephones.
The main floor is home to "The Parlor," a cozy, intriguing, full service bar with a big screen TV for movies, special features, and sporting events. The lobby of the hotel is a spacious, warm, comfortable room with leather sofas, piano, heavy oak table for small meetings or formal dinners, western style waterfall, and wonderful artwork by local artists. Both the Parlor and the lobby invite guests to read, relax, converse, and enjoy all the memorabilia throughout these rooms. There is also a small, intimate dining room on the main level used for candlelight breakfasts and romantic dinners for our guests.
The Plains Hotel is "a total non-smoking establishment". We provide a smoking area for our guests in a private outdoor garden off The Parlor. Because we pride ourselves on our romantic and quiet atmosphere inside the hotel, our rooms are designed to accommodate no more than 2 people per room. Since there is only one bed in each room, the hotel is not suited for small children or infants and we do not allow pets. We accept Visa, MasterCard, check, or cash. A 48-hour cancellation notice for room reservations is required. (Weddings and group reservations have a separate cancellation policy) Check-in time is 4:00 pm or later and check out time is 12 noon.
