"Nuuanu" means "lush, cool heights." Hawaiian royalty had summer homes in this area. "Dowsett Highlands" was one of the first subdivisions (1929) with underground utilities on Oahu. Each unit has color TV, private phone, coffee maker, toaster, fridge, table, chairs and dishes, and private shower bath. Not fancy, just modest; but neat, clean, and convenient if you want to your vacation or business trip centrally located. 10 minutes to downtown Honolulu, 20 minutes to Waikiki or the Airport, 30 minutes to Kailua, 3 blocks to bus stop. The ground floor unit has a queen bed, a day-bed and a small dining area. The 2nd floor unit has the same amenities only the bed is two twins or a king. Microwave & hot plate available nearby, so only an Aloha Welcome Basket is provided for the first day. This includes cereal, fruit, juice, condiments, milk. One night OK, but surcharge, if less than 3. Children welcome! Host has dogs in the main house, and outdoor cats. Fax, email, and copying available for a modest fee. From $57.50

Payment/Cancellation Policy: We require full payment of the B&B total for any stay of 3 days or less; for more than 3 days, it's 3 days or 50% of the total, whichever is greater. The balance, plus tax and any security deposit, is payable at check-in. Payment to Hale Kipa to be in cash or travelers checks, but full payment can be made by credit card. We accept personal checks when received in time to clear before arrival. We also accept MasterCard, Discover and Visa. Any payment, less a $25 processing fee, is refundable when we get notice of cancellation 2 weeks before occupancy is scheduled. If cancellation is less than 2 weeks any payment, less one night and $25 processing fee is refundable.
