The Inn at Bath is comfortably elegant bed and breakfast on the midcoast of Maine. Built in the mid-1800's during the city’s prosperous shipbuilding era, this large Greek Revival home is filled with wonderful art as well as lots of color and light, and is set among beautiful gardens. The Inn is located in Bath's picturesque Historic District, just a block from the tidal Kennebec River which empties into the Atlantic Ocean 12 miles away. Bath’s locally owned shops and restaurants are within walking distance, as are The Chocolate Church Arts Center and Bath Iron Works. The Maine Maritime Museum is just 2 miles away. L.L. Bean and the Freeport retail outlets are just a 25 minute drive. Bowdoin College, with its museums and historic sites is in the adjoining town of Brunswick, while Bates and Colby Colleges are 45 minutes and 1.25 hours respectively. The ocean is close by and can be enjoyed at Reid State Park, a rugged and scenic beach, at Popham Beach, a glorious 2-mile stretch of white sand rated one of the most beautiful beaches in New England and Wolfe Neck State Park, between Brunswick and Freeport.
A thought we'd like to leave with you is that Bath is a small, quiet, unspoiled and beautiful New England town, which, fortunately, does not have the visitor crowds you find in the better known coastal Maine destination towns. We hope you will be our guest before too long. The Inn at Bath is a very special experience. Described by Fodor's as "...convenient and comfortable..." Recommended by House Beautiful as "The place to stay in Bath, Maine and one of the quality inns in the midcoast region". Described by Lonely Planet as "Bath's most splendid B&B".
