Surrounded by lush green trees & shrubbery, lies the Maria Atwood Inn. Named after the gracious lady who owned and occupied the home at the turn of the century, the Inn and its owners would like to invite you to sample the old fashioned hospitality, the taste tempting breakfasts, and the charming, attractive accommodations. You will be taken back into a different time by the allure and mystique of this house...every step in the restoration of this classic brick Federal Colonial home carefully preserved its original features while providing modern comforts. The original romantic appeal and character of this home has remained through such classic features as its Rumford fireplaces, interior Indian Shutters, vintage turnkey locks and Christian doors. The cozy living room provides a comfortable gathering place for guests to get acquainted. When the mountain air gets nippy, you will be able to warm up in front of a blazing fire. Each of the seven guest accommodations has its own unique characteristics. Every room has a private bath and four contain working fireplaces. The library provides a congenial setting every morning for a full, bountiful breakfast. While enjoying a satisfying meal, you can observe the many varieties of birds that the garden hosts. In the afternoon, come back to the living room to enjoy tasty snacks. Nestled in the heart of the ''Lakes Region," the Maria Atwood Inn is conveniently located for an assortment of activities. Whatever your preference - be it skiing, snowmobiling, golf, tennis, hiking, swimming, hunting, fishing, bicycling or boating; all are obtainable within a half-hour ride or less. The area is also dotted with various antique shops, scenic viewing, historic sites, summer theater, old fashioned county fairs and more. Sandi's favorite spot is Keepsake Quilting in Center Harbor. Sandi and Fred invite you to experience as one guest put it ''a wonderful step back in time to a more relaxed and familiar way of living..." So, whether you want to enjoy the many activities New Hampshire has to offer, or just want ''to get away from it all,'' the Maria Atwood Inn will make every effort so you will want to return again and again.

Children under age 12 with well-behaved parents are welcomed free of charge. There is a very friendly "Inn Dog" that remains in the Innkeeper's quarters but, unfortunately,we must request that guest's pets remain at home. Quilters will love KEEPSAKE QUILTING. Bikers will love to ride the hills and visit during Laconia Bike Week. Hunters will find endless forests and mountains still mostly free of posted signs. Canoeists have inumerable choices of lakes and rivers to explore. History buffs will love the Canterbury Shaker Village just 15 miles distant. Add NASCAR races, fantastic fall foliage, Maple Suger Weekend, the Franklin Opera House, 5 area golf courses, the Mt. Washington Cruise Ship on Lake Winnipesaukee and you will only be touching the surface of the many adventures the Lakes Region of New Hampshire has to offer!

Cancellation Policy: Rooms may be reserved with a valid credit card number and full billing address or a deposit by personal check or money order equal to one nights lodging (or 50% of the total anticipated bill for stays of 3 nights or longer) must be received within 7 days after the reservation is made or the reservation is automatically canceled. Deposits are credited toward the final day of your stay. Deposits will not be refunded because of early departure unless we are able to re-rent your room.The deposit, less a $20 per room handling fee, is refundable only if the reservation is canceled at least 14 days prior to the arrival date. If the reservation is canceled less than 14 days prior to the arrival date, the deposit is forfeited unless we are able to re-rent your room. Full, non-refundable payments are required for various peak periods including (but not limited to) certain NH International Speedway race dates, October Fall foliage period, June Motorcycle Week and holiday weekends.
